In Wilanów Wysoki, at ul. Radosna 11, stands a building that brings together a preschooler, a teenager at an art class and a sixty year old at a senior club meeting, all in one place. This is Międzypokoleniowe Centrum Edukacji, a district investment carried out by Skanska under a design and build formula. The agreement was signed in May 2015, construction started in November that same year, and the building was ready by the end of 2016. The gross investment cost was around 12 million zloty.
The building has three floors above ground and one below, about 3,000 square meters of usable space and nearly 13,000 cubic meters of volume. The name is not accidental. Under one roof, though with separate entrances, four different functions operate. A preschool, a branch of Biblioteka Wilanowska, a branch of Centrum Kultury Wilanów, and a senior club.
A preschool on the ground floor
The largest part of the building is taken up by Przedszkole nr 427 Kraina Radości, which welcomed its first children on February 1, 2017. The facility has six groups and space for about 150 children, with its own separate entrance so the youngest do not need to cross paths with seniors or library visitors. Children are divided into groups with names like Wiewiórki, Myszki, Rybki, Żabki, Kotki and Motylki, and the preschool runs daily from 7am to 5pm.
The rest of the building belongs to residents of every age. The Biblioteka Wilanowska branch on Radosna is one of four library locations in the district, with its own book collection and opening hours independent of the main branch on ul. Kolegiacka. Centrum Kultury Wilanów runs classes here as part of its annual season sign up, alongside its other locations scattered across the district. The senior club operates here as part of programs that keep older residents active, including the nationwide Bridge 60+ network.
For families living in Wilanów Wysoki, this is a practical setup, since services that would otherwise require driving across the whole district sit at one address. A grandparent can pick up a grandchild from preschool, stop by for a reserved book on the way, and stay for the senior club's afternoon activities, all without getting into a car.
