Anyone heading to Plaża Wilanów this weekend, at the corner of Wilanowska and Przyczółkowa on ul. Franciszka Klimczaka 2, will find more than grass and water there. A row of market stalls sets up too. This is Targ Śniadaniowy, the Breakfast Market, a weekly event that runs in Wilanów on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 to 16:00. The Wilanów District Office co-organises it.
What is sold and until when it runs
Stalls sell fresh vegetables and fruit, meat and dairy, and traditional and regional products that can be eaten on the spot, at shared tables set up outdoors. Alongside the food, organisations promoting a conscious, healthy lifestyle also show up, so the place works equally well for a quick family breakfast or a slower walk between stalls. Targ Śniadaniowy started as a brand on Żoliborz and later grew to several locations across Warsaw, one of which is the Wilanów edition at Plaża Wilanów.
This year's season ends on September 28, which means only a handful of weekends remain. That is worth knowing for anyone who kept putting the visit off. Unlike a one time event, this market is easy to mistake for something that runs forever, when in practice it has a fixed closing date for the season. The organiser publishes stall lists and updates at targsniadaniowy.pl.
For residents of Miasteczko Wilanów and the surrounding area, this is a natural extension of a weekend walk by the water. Admission to the market itself is free, all it takes is showing up at a stall with cash or a card, no registration or reservation required.
It is worth remembering this is a recurring event, not a one off, so there is no need to rush for a specific opening time. Stalls stay open from morning into the late afternoon, and traffic tends to be heavier earlier in the day, when the produce is freshest.
Plaża Wilanów lives a double life on these weekends. Next to the stalls sits a sandy meadow with the NOVUM playground, so a family can combine market shopping with playtime on site instead of planning two separate outings in one day. It is also worth checking what else is happening there that week, since Plaża Wilanów regularly hosts other seasonal events too, from sports picnics to outdoor cinema screenings.
