On Sunday, October 11, from 10 AM to 2 PM, the Wilanów Garage Sale returns to the square in front of the Wilanów District Office at Klimczaka 2. Entry for buyers is free, and the idea behind the event is simple. Instead of throwing away things that pile up in closets, basements and on balconies, residents put them up for sale, give them away for a symbolic price, or simply trade them for something else.
Tables usually fill up with clothes, books, toys, decorations and household items, the typical set of things someone bought with good intentions and never got around to using. The event is especially popular with families with young children, since clothes and toys a child has outgrown easily find a new owner here instead of ending up straight in a clothing donation bin.
How to register a stall
Buyers do not need to register anywhere, they can simply show up during the listed hours. Sellers face a different process. The Wilanów District Office requires reading the event rules first, then filling in and signing a registration form along with a GDPR consent clause. A scan or photo of the signed document has to be sent to garazowka.wilanowska@um.warszawa.pl. The forms and rules themselves are available on the wilanow.um.warszawa.pl website, in the section dedicated to the garage sale. Once the office receives an application, a staff member contacts each applicant personally, so it pays not to wait too long before sending it in, since the number of stalls is usually limited.
The Wilanów Garage Sale returned to the district calendar in spring this year, after a break and numerous requests from residents who remembered earlier editions from previous years. Since then the office has organized it seasonally, in spring, summer and now autumn, always in the same spot in front of its own building at Klimczaka 2. It is one of the few occasions in Wilanów where neighbours actually meet face to face over something other than a cultural event or a festival, just an ordinary, slightly chaotic exchange of belongings.
If you happen to be near Klimczaka on the weekend of October 11, it is worth setting aside half an hour to walk between the tables. Sometimes the best finds, a child's bike in perfect condition or a set of bedtime story books, turn up exactly this way, with no online searching and no waiting for a courier.
