Kolegiacka 3 in Wilanów is mostly known as the address of the local community police office, which we wrote about earlier. Starting August 11, the same building, at the Main Library, will host something quite different: a cycle of five workshops for seniors meant to help them stay fit and independent for longer.
The cycle is called "Workshops with a Physiotherapist. How to Stay Fit and Increase Comfort of Movement" and is led by dr Dorota Saganowska, a physiotherapist and lecturer at the Medical University of Warsaw. Saganowska is a certified therapist in the PNF and NDT Bobath methods for adults, and also works with postural defects and functional training, exactly the kind of work that matters most after sixty: keeping independence for longer.
Five sessions, one goal
The sessions take place every two weeks, always at 11:00: August 11 and 25, then September 8 and 22, and finally October 6. Each session's program is based on current standards in physiotherapy, functional geriatrics and health prevention, covering pain and loss of independence prevention, improving functional fitness, fall prevention, safe physical activity adapted to age, and practical strategies for healthy aging.
This is not a single lecture but a cycle spread across two months, where each session is meant to build on the last. It is aimed at Wilanów residents past sixty, and organized by the Public Library in the Wilanów District.
Registration opened on June 17 and continues by phone at +48 22 443 49 08. Spots are limited and participation is decided by order of registration, so anyone waiting for the August date should call sooner rather than later.
